The Importance of a Proper Teeth Cleaning

Do you ever wonder if you’re properly caring for your smile every day? If so, we are happy to help you! It is very important that you clean your smile by doing the following things:

Brush your teeth: Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. It is generally recommended that you brush in the morning when you wake up and at night right before you go to bed. For a cleaner smile, you are more than welcome to brush after each meal and snack.

Floss your smile: Floss your teeth at least once a day. Flossing is a great way to deeply clean your smile, free the food particles that are stuck, clean the hard-to-reach areas of your mouth, and reduce the plaque and tartar buildup between your teeth.

Rinse your mouth: Rinse your mouth daily with beneficial mouthwash. Rinsing will deeply clean your smile as well as freshen your breath. For the best results, you can use bacteria-killing, anti-gingivitis, or fluoride mouthwash. If you dislike the burning sensation some rinses provide, we recommend using a rinse that does not contain alcohol.

Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist every six months for a dental cleaning. During these appointments, our friendly dental team will deeply clean your smile, nourish your teeth, and prevent dental problems. The most important part of this appointment is the plaque removal process. Our dentist or hygienist will gently scrape the surfaces of your teeth with a special tool to remove the plaque that lives and grows on your teeth. If the plaque is not removed, it could lead to tender and swollen gums as well as loose and lost teeth.

If you already use these techniques to clean your smile, you are on the right track toward having a strong, successful, and healthy smile. If you are missing one or more of these techniques, today is a great day to start including them in your teeth cleaning routine! If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office today. We are more than happy to help you!
